CHECKMATE
There were plenty of winners at Simonds last Thursday, as the great minds of the ACC battled it out over seven rounds of chess. A record number of participants took part in the Open Chess Tournament and the quality of competition continues to reach new heights. The Mazenod chess powerhouse continued their winning streak (reigning champions since 2004), whilst De La Salle were fantastic on the day and therefore it helped them to secure the Division 2 title. It was so close in Division 2 that De La Salle & St Bernard’s both finished on 22.5 points, but in determining the winner De La Salle won on a tie by 0.134. It was a fantastic event and the support of our hosts in Simonds Catholic College was superb. Congratulations to all participants and thanks to KidsUnlimited for their ongoing support of ACC Chess.
